The management of the compromised fetus is a challenging task and often prompts performance of an emergency caesarean delivery. One important aspect in the care of the compromised fetus is the wellcoordinated team. The team members should clearly understand the medical terms used to describe fetal status and the urgency of the necessary intervention. Fetal distress is a poorly defined term and may result in unnecessary emergency caesarean deliveries under general anesthesia.
