Teaching in the operating theatre has two components – practical and theoretical. There has to be a teacher and a trainee (or student). Good practical training requires thorough instruction by the teacher and all trainees should be supervised closely during the early part of their training so that they learn good habits and hopefully how to perform their tasks efficiently and safely.
